Dear Future Self,
As a creative, design is something I'm quite familiar with. I have the power to both create and destroy realities, with nothing but my imagination and a copy of Photoshop. But what happens when our very real world goes up in flames? Burnout.
You know what I’m talking about. That feeling that you’re just watching the time pass, trudging through your days, working towards the weekend, or that next vacation. The problem is, when it’s time to go back to work you never feel quite ready to get back to the grind. You live for Friday afternoons and hate Monday mornings. In fact, studies have shown that even after a lengthy vacation away from the monotony, burnout often returns to the very same level within as little as a week.
What if I told you it’s possible to "design a life"? With starting your own business, it's possible to realize your dreams, reach your goals, and live your best life, rather than working to meet someone else’s bottom line. I’m not at all saying that it’s easy. Solopreneurship requires dedication, determination, and maintaining a clear vision of what you hope to achieve. Still, when you stop trying and fall in love with doing, you’ll never work a day in your life.
Rather than give you a standardized "step-by-step" formula on how to set goals, I'd rather ask you this... What wakes you up in the morning? What experiences do you want to have had in your career? What Change do you intend to affect in the Earth? How do YOU define a life of Success?
It is when you are able to answer these questions, for yourself, that you can truly begin designing a life that you DON'T need a vacation from... I look forward to that moment for you.
Remember the Future.
